Security around Rushdie to be reviewed

London, June 18 (UNI) Security around celebrity author Salman Rushdie is to be reviewed after news of his knighthood caused uproar in Iran and Pakistan.

According to reports, the heightened risk may force him to move to a new home equipped with sophisticated defensive measures.

The taxpayer has already spent 10 million pound protecting Mr Rushdie 24 hours a day. He is afforded the same level of security as former British Prime Minister Lady Thatcher or some royals.

Sources at Scotland Yard are angry that the knighthood was handed out when the terror threat is so high, according to The Daily Mail, which quoted a security source saying, ''It beggars belief that he's been given this knighthood at this current time.

It's a finger up the nose of those after him and, as ever, the taxpayer will be left footing the bill.'' It is believed that officers from Counter Terrorism Command, which has responsibility for the writer's safety, will undertake a full review of Mr Rushdie's security.
