Pakistan to pursue Iranian gas pipeline project
Islamabad, June 18 (UNI) Pakistan has vowed to pursue Iranian gas pipeline to meet its growing energy requirements, despite the US opposition to the project.
''We are aware of the US position on the project but will pursue the project as it is feasible,'' Foreign Office spokesperson Tasnim Aslam told a press briefing here today.
She also reiterated Pakistan's opposition to use of force against Iran on the nuclear issue, stating that the problem should be resolved through dialogue.
When asked if the ongoing peace process between Pakistan and India figured during talks between Pakistani and US officials Richard Boucher and John Negroponte in Islamabad last week, she said the United States wants both counters to resolve issues peacefully.
During the talks, US Deputy Secretary of State Negroponte was briefed about current status of Pakistan-India peace process and the CBMs, she said.
The CBMs have created a very conducive atmosphere for moving towards settlement of disputes, she added.
