MCC Zonal Commander and Ranbir Sena Area Commander arrested

Patna, Jun 17 (UNI) The Bihar police today arrested the Zonal Commander of the underground Maoist Communist Centre (MCC) and the Area Commander of Ranbir Sena from their hideout at Jehanabad, about 60 km from here.

Claiming the arrest of Kamlesh Ram and Ranbir Sena as a major success of the state police in its ongoing drive against criminals this year, official sources, quoting reports from the district, said they were wanted in several cases of murder, robbery and loot but had been evading arrest for the past couple of years.

While Kamlesh Ram was wanted in connection with as many as 12 criminal cases, including the loot of at least 17 firearms from 12 police pickets, killing of four policemen and massacre of six others in different incidents since 2005, Jitender Singh was evading arrest in connection with about seven criminal cases of murder and loot, the sources added.

However, their arrest from the same hideout, despite being staunch enemies of each other because of their loyalties to opposition groups like MCC and the private army of the upper classes - 'Ranbir Sena' has raised many eyebrows among the police and others.

Meanwhile, both the arrested had been brought to the Jehanabad district headquarters for interrogation to trace their links in criminal activities.
