Korba East Expansion Project

Korba, June 17 (UNI) Chhattisgarh State Electricity Board (CSEB) Chairman Rajiv Ranjan today inaugurated the Korba East Expansion Project's second unit of 250 MW.

''Preparations were completed late last night in the presence of CSEB Member (Production) S P Chaturvedi. The first unit, also of 250 MW, was inaugurated by Chief Minister Raman Singh on January 16 and will begin commercial production in a month while the second one will do so before Diwali,'' he told mediapersons here.

Responding to a query, Mr Ranjan said that a scheme exists for having an alternative system in place so that Bastar region's naxals are unable to cause blackouts.

''The Board's special campaign, to prevent power theft, has proved a success,'' he claimed.
