IGNOU VC gets Pylee award

New Delhi, Jun 17 (UNI) Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) Vice Chancellor Prof V N Rajasekharan Pillai has been conferred the 5th Prof MV Pylee Award for the distinguished Academician of India 2006.

This award, instituted by Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT) in the name of Padma Bhushan Prof MV Pylee, is among the most coveted award, in the country for a university teacher. Prof Pillai is the 5th recipient of this triennial award.

Earlier recipients include renowned astrophysicist Prof Jayant Narlikar, distinguished Sociologist (late) Prof MN Srinivas distinguished Surgeon and world-renowned medical scientist Prof MS Valiathan.

The Award was conferred by Sree Shankracharya University of Sanskrit Vice-Chancellor K.S.Radhakrishnan in Cochin.
