Kolhapur, Jun 17 (UNI) Five agitating Shiv Sena activists, who were on a hunger strike, were hospitalised today after their condition deteriorated.

The activists, who were agitating in front of the district collectorate, demanding the release of second instalment of payment to sugarcane growers, were admitted to the Chhatrapati Pamila Raje Civil Hospital.

The agitation led by Sena's Ichalkarnaji division chief Murlidhar Jadhav entered the fifth day today.

A meeting at the collector's office yesterday, however, failed to resolve the issue and the protestors decided to continue their agitation.

Meanwhile, Shiv Sena and Bharatiya Vidyarthi Sena (BVS), Kolhapur division have jointly planned to stage a rasta roko near Tavade hotel on the Pune-Bangalore national highway to highlight their demands, Rajesh Kshirsagar, western Maharashtra chief of BVS told reporters.
