Cellphone seized in Chhattisgarh jail
Patthalgaon, Chhattisgarh, June 17 (UNI) A cellphone and some objectionable papers have been seized from an undertrial during a police raid at Jashpur District Jail.
''A complaint was recieved against Nageshwar making extortion-linked threats to traders, contractors and officials. He was arrested last year on the charge of being a self-styled naxal commander,'' Jashpur's Superintendent of Police Akbar Ram Korram told UNI today.
Last evening, a team led by Additional SP B S Dhruv and Jashpur's Sub-Divisional Magistrate H L Nayak conducted a surprise inspection.
The phone was found in Barrack Number 1.
''The inspection was in accordance with directives to specially monitor prisons in the border districts. A letter has been written to the Home Department and District Collector against the Jail Superintendent's carelessness,'' added Mr Korram.
