5-yr-old rescued from borewell

Pune, June 17 (UNI) A five-year-old boy, who had accidentally fallen into a borewell at Wadgaon Rasai village in Shirur taluka of this district, was rescued after a five-hour ordeal today.

A team of officials from the fire brigade and the SRPF dug a hole adjacent to the spot where Shivaji Kantilal Deshmukh was stuck and rescued the minor at about 1730 hrs, said Deputy Fire Officer Suresh Baburao Sagvekar.

The minor has been admitted to a hospital in Shirur and his condition is said be critical.

The accident occurred when the boy, who was playing near the borewell, fell into it at about 1000 hours at Wadgaon Rasai village in Shirur taluka, about 50 km from here and was stuck in a 150 feet deep hole.

The villagers intimated the police, the fire brigade and also district collector Prabhakar Deshmukh.
