UP to plant 1 crore saplings in single day

Allahabad, June 16 (UNI) The Uttar Pradesh government under its special plantation drive has fixed a target to plant one crore saplings on July 31 alone.

On achieving the affixed target, UP would make a record, registring itself in the Guiness book of world records.

The plantation drive will be launched in the whole state on the respective day, for which directions had already been issued to the district magistrates to make the drive a success.

''A special sapling plantation programme will be held in Allahabad, where about one lakh saplings would be planted on the same day,'' district magistrate of Allahabad Ashish Kumar Goel said.

The programme would cover both the government as-well-as private sector, making respective department responsible for maintainance of the plants, he added.
