Two Dawood Ibrahim aides arrested
Mumbai, June 16: Two history-sheeters, suspected of owing allegiance to the Dawood Ibrahim gang, were arrested late last evening by Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) sleuths from Vile Parle here and some weapons have been seized from them.
ATS inspector Sunil Deshmukh said the two, Devappa Bhogode and Rajesh Pardeshi were nabbed from near a hotel. The two are suspected of owing allegiance to the Anees Ibrahim faction of the Dawood Ibrahim Kaskar gang.
A foreign-made revolver, a country-made revolver and three live cartridges have been seized from them, Mr Deshmukh said.
Earlier, the two had been convicted under the Maharashtra Control for Organised Crime Act for their involvement in organised syndicate crime, Mr Deshmukh said.
Mr Deshmukh said the police had been informed that the duo might come to the hotel to strike a weapons deal. The police, accordingly, laid a trap and nabbed the duo.
Several cases of extortions, attempt to murder, and murders are registered against the two in the jurisdication of the Mumbai police commissionarate, Mr Deshmukh said.
