TN to conduct fresh census of ration card holders
Chennai, Jun 16 (UNI) The Tamil Nadu government will conduct a fresh census of ration card holders in all the six Corporation limits in the state and streamline the process.
A decision to this effect was taken at a meeting chaired by Local Administration Minister M K Stalin and Food Minister E V Velu.
An official release said the Ministers stressed the need for taking a fresh census of ration card holders and requested the Mayors and Deputy mayors of all the Corporations and government officials to cooperate.
The Ministers said there should not be any lapses while taking the census and the Food and civil supplies department should ensure that genuine families were given ration cards.
The Mayors and Deputy Mayors of Chennai, Coimbatore, Trichy and Salem Corporations and government officials were among those who attended the meeting.
