Sporadic downpour lashes UP
Lucknow, June 16 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh continued to experience pleasant weather with the sporadic rainfall lashing most parts of the state for the fourth consecutive day today.
With the weather turning pleasant, people are venturing out of their homes to enjoy the break. Popular public places like zoo and parks are the hot spots for revelers.
Since the advent of June, people in UP had been reeling under sweltering heat. Frequent power outages had added to the woes of perspiring residents. The unrelenting heat had made life miserable, with everybody prefering to stay indoors, before the current spell of pre-monsoon showers.
In the last 24 hours, Moradabad, Allahabad, Jhansi, Ballia, Bareilly, Gorakhpur, Varanasi and Saharanpur divisions were lashed with heavy downpour, the weatherman said.
Owing to showers accompanied by easterlies, the temperature took beating at most places and plunged below normal.
Moradabad recorded the highest 70 mm rainfall, followed by Jhansi 60 mm, Ballia 50 mm, while Allahabad and Varanasi received 10 mm each.
Farmers foresee prospects of good sugarcane produce this season.
A report from Allahabad said people have welcomed the much-awaited showers.
Squall and heavy rainfall have been forecast at few places in the next 24 hours.
