Shekhawat calls on Pratibha Patil

New Delhi, Jun 16 (UNI) Breaking the protocol, Vice President Bhairon Singh Shekhawat today called on Rajasthan Governor Pratibha Patil, the UPA's Presidential nominee, at Jodhpur House.

The meeting between the two leaders assumes significance since Mr Shekhawat will in all probability contest against Mrs Patil as an independent supported by Opposition NDA.

Earlier in the day, Mrs Patil had expressed her desire to call on Mr Shekhawat to seek his blessings. Mr Shekhawat obviously pre-empted any such move by Mrs Patil, herself married in a Shekhawati family.
