Pratibha Patil leaves for New Delhi

Jaipur, June 16 (UNI) Rajasthan Governor and UPA nominee for the Presidential election Pratibha Patil left for New Delhi this morning.

A Raj Bhawan spokesman told UNI that Ms Patil flew for the capital by a Go Air flight around 0900 hrs.

This is Ms Patil's first visit to the national capital after being chosen on Thursday by the ruling UPA-Left combine for the July 19 Presidential election.

Ms Patil had returned to the Pink City from Mount Abu on Thursday evening itself.

She had a busy schedule at the Raj Bhawan here yesterday with a large number of people from all walks of life thronged throughout the day to congratulate her on her nomination for the highest constitutional post, the spokesman added.

Meanwhile, the process for election of the 13th President also opens today with the Election Commission issuing a notification in this regard.

According to the schedule, the last date for filing nominations is June 30, scrutiny of papers will be held on July 2 and the last date for withdrawal is July 4.
