UP: Power engineers to protest against suspension

Varanasi. June 16: Engineers of Purvanchal Vidyut Vitaran Nigam Limited (PVVNL) will stage demonstration here tomorrow to demand for revoking the suspension and transfer of seven fellow engineers.

Members of Uttar Pradesh Rajya Vidyut Parishad Abhiyanta Sangh -- body of UP power department engineers -- held a meeting here today, where it was decided to stage demonstration in Varanasi tomorrow against the suspension of four engineers and transfer of three engineers.

''We will stage demonstration at the office of the Managing Director of PVVNL to demand the revocation of suspension and transfer of the seven engineers,'' zonal secretary of the engineers body A K Mishra said.

Four engineers N K Singh, A K Gupta, J R Yadav and Indresh Rai were suspended and three others V K Singh, Sankat Haran Singh and P K Singh were transferred for dereliction of duty in connection with a raid at a cooking oil mill here on June 11.

The raid was conducted at the mill in Ashapur area by a team of power officials led by Uttar Pradesh power minister Ramveer Upadhyaya, where it was found that the mill owners were indulging in power theft.
