Policeman's wife commits suicide after delivering first child

Kancheepuram , June 16 (UNI) A 25-year-old woman, wife of a policeman, committed suicide by jumping off the third floor of a private nursing home here today.

According to police, Geetha, who was a teacher and got married to the policeman attached to the Avadi special police force in Chennai two years ago, had given birth to their first child, a girl, at the nursing home four days ago.

Early this morning, the woman went to the thrid floor of the hospital, unnoticed and ended her life by jumping from a height of 140 feet, police said.

The people around the nursing home as well as those inside were shocked to see the body of her lying in a pool of blood on the floor. On being informed by the hospital staff, the Chengalpattu police rushed a special team from Mamallapuram to the scene of the crime.

The police team sent her body to Chengalpattu Government hospital. The police team was investigating the reason for the suicide.
