Nodal agency formed to procure power for Mumbai
Mumbai, Jun 16 (UNI) Private energy majors like Reliance Energy, Tata Power Company and state agencies have come together to form a nodal agency 'Mumbai Power Procurement Agency' to procure power from other states.
Reliance Energy Executive Director Lalit Jalan told UNI that the nodal agency will work towards procuring power from the other sources to meet the 450 mega watt shortfall of power in the city. At present, the peak requirement of power in the city is about 2,600 MW but the current supply is only 2,200 MW.
''We are approaching every supplier, every state in India to sell us spare power for the city,'' he added.
