MPCC convention of local self bodies members tomorrow

Nagpur, June 16 (UNI) A day long convention of all Congress members of various local self-government bodies in Maharashtra will be held here tomorrow.

Over 3,200 delegates from all parts of the state were expected to attend, according to Prabhavati Ojha, Vice President of Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC), which is hosting the convention.

The delegates would include members of municipal corporations, municipal councils, zilla parishads and panchayat samities elected on the Congress party's election symbol, she said.

Besides, members of parliament, legislators, chairmen of various corporations, and office bearers of the party's state unit and frontal organisations will also be present, Ms Ojha said.

Union Minister for Panchayati Raj Manishankar Iyer is scheduled to inaugurate the convention, while MPCC chief Prabha Rau will preside, she added.
