MP CM urges optimum use of panchayat funds

Bhopal, June 16 (UNI) Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan today urged women panchs and sarpanchs to ensure optimum utilisation of government funds available in village panchayats.

Addressing eight tribal districts' panchs and sarpanchs who were imparted leadership training under the Madhya Pradesh Rural Livelihood Project here, he expressed gratitude to the women for having direct dialogue about the status of implementation of schemes at grassroots level. The women apprised the Chief Minister of shortcomings, an official release said.

Panchayat and Rural Development Minister Rustam Singh and Minister of State for Rural Development Gangaram Patel were among those present.

''The feedback will help the government take corrective measures,'' said Mr Chouhan and informed the women about the Ladli Laxmi, Kanyadan and Janani Suraksha schemes.

Mr Singh claimed that women are awakening to their rights even in remote tribal villages, the release added.
