Narendra Modi launches Kanya Kelavani Mahotsav
Khanpur, Gujarat, June 16: Students and teachers playing truant in primary schools will have to be wary of Chief Minister Narendra Modi, as he today launched the biometrics fingerprint system project as part of ''Kanya Kelavani Mahotsav: 2007'' or girl child education festival here.
''All primary schools in the state will have biometrics fingerprint system installed in them by the year 2010, the golden jubilee year of the foundation day of Gujarat'' said Mr Modi while launching the three-day Kanya Kelavani Mahotsav at Lambho village in the Khanpur taluka of Panchmahal district, some 200 km from the state capital of Gandhinagar.
Along with Lambho, Mr Modi presided over the ritual of girl child admission to primary schools in Nava Vadhela, Navagam, Udela and Nesada villages, where he distributed educational kits and vidhyalakshmi bonds to girl students. Also highlight of the function was the distribution of fortified chocolates as part of ''Balbhog Yojana'' or child meal project.
