MANUU to set up ITIs
Hyderabad, June 16 (UNI) The Maulana Azad National Urdu Univesity (MANUU) will soon set up Industrial Training Institutes (ITI) in different parts of the country in keeping with the recommendations of the Sachar Committee, its Vice-Chancellor A M Pathan said today.
Speaking at the second Convocation of the University here he said ITIs would be set up at Hyderabad, Bangalore, Darbhanga and Srinagar to impart vocational education in various skills and trade to benefit artisans among the Urdu speakers.
Among the main findings of the Sachar Committee was the fact that by and large, Muslims ranked some what above SCs/STs but below the OBCs among Hindus and other minorities, he pointed out, adding that literacy rate among the Muslim community was only 59 per cent, against the national average of 65 per cent.
The university would soon start a College of Teachers Education in Bhopal, he said, adding that the UGC had sanctioned an Urdu academy for professional development of Urdu school teachers.
This acadaemy would impart extension of knowledge, pedagogy, educational technologies and curriculum contents as per current trends to in-service Urdu medium school teachers, he said.
