Legs help Swapna pass Tripura HSLC
Agartala, Jun 16 (UNI) Physical disability was a major stumbling block for Swapna but it never proved a deterrent towards the fulfillment of her dreams of receiving education.
Swapna Biswas, a resident of remote Nalicherra village in Dhalai district of Tripura, has scripted a history in Tripura Board of Secondary Education (TBSE) by writing her answer scripts in Madhyamik exam with legs.
Swapna obtained second division in the examination. Her answer scripts caught the attention of the TBSE authorities, as she wrote more pages more neatly than any average student.
She is the only child of her widow mother Pramila, who does not have a steady source of income. Pramila has maintained the family by vending puffed rice (Muri) for the last 18 years, ever since her husband died.
''It was possible only for my teachers, who assisted me to turn over the answer scripts constantly in examination but I don't know how I shall attend the classes regularly in Higher Secondary standard,'' Swapna said.
According to TBSE officials, Swapna wrote the answer scripts efficiently. ''She maintained all alignments even in mathematics paper, while she was answering the questions,'' the official said.
''Common errors, spelling mistakes and punctuations were minimum in her writing, though she could not answer all the questions even in a single paper,'' they added.
