K'taka Governor's help sought on Bharati's image at loo
Puducherry, June 16 (UNI) Puducherry State Kalai Ilakkiya Perumandram submitted a memorandum to Karnataka Governor T N Chaturvedi seeking his intervention to remove an image of revolutionary Tamil poet Subramaniya Bharthi, drawn in front of a gents toilet at a private hotel in Tumkur district, Karnataka.
The functionaries of Perumandram and leaders of CPI here called on Mr Chaturvedi, who is on a visit to the Union Territory and submitted a memorandum in this regard yesterday, stating that it was a ''disgrace to the poet.'' Later, they told reporters that Mr Chaturvedi had informed them that action had already been taken for its removal on receiving a letter from them, earlier.
The District Superintendent of Police had been directed to do the needful, he added.
