Karunanidhi eyeing Vice President's post: Jaya

Chennai, Jun 16 (UNI) AIADMK General Secretary J Jayalalithaa today claimed that Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi was making moves to become Vice President of the country.

Talking to newspersons after the party's executive committee meeting here, the AIADMK leader said she had reliable information that the DMK leader was planning to become Vice President after ''annointing'' his son and Local Administration Minister M K Stalin as Chief Minister.

Asked about reports that she might be nominated on behalf of the Third Front for the Presidentship to take on Congress nominee Ms Pratibha Patil, Ms Jayalalithaa, describing the reports as false, said she had no such idea, but had interesting information to share with the media.

''I heard through my own sources and reliable information that Mr Karunanidhi is making moves to become Vice President and that is why he took his wife Dayalu Ammal and met Congress President Sonia Gandhi to press his case,'' she alleged.
