Jammu, June 16 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) government has taken up several road projects to exploit the tourism potential of the state, which could not be developed due to poor transport communication, Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad said.

Mr Azad, while addressing a seminar at PG Degree College, Bhadarwah last evening, said perspective planning for harnessing tourism potential in various parts of the state is on the anvil, which would help in creating avenues of employment and raising socio-economic status of the people.

He said the tourism potential of Doda district and other such areas of the state could not be exploited fully due to poor road connectivity and other infrastructure requirements. ''To ensure road network, a number of road projects have been taken in hand across the state, including Doda district,'' he said.

The Chief Minister referred to important road projects being executed in Doda district, including Kahra-Jai, Jai-Gandoh and double-laning of Bhadarwah-Pul Doda and Bhadarwah-Chamba roads.
