Haryana: 39,791 power connections snapped
Chandigarh, June 16: The Haryana Power Utilities has launched a special drive to disconnect the electricity connections of consumers who are not making payment of their bills.
Under the drive, the Uttar Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (UHBVN) disconnected as many as 39,791 power connections in the state during the last two months, a UHBVN spokesman said.
He said 9914 connections of non-payers had been disconnected in Ambala and Panchkula districts, 8377 in Yamunanagar, 6348 in Kurukshetra and Kaithal districts, 3951 in Karnal, 5075 in Panipat, 3499 in Rohtak and Jhajjar districts, 980 in Jind and 1647 in Sonepat district.
The Nigam had to recover Rs 16.63 crore from these non-paying consumers out of which Rs 13.27 crore had been recovered, the spokesman said.
