Gir lion population expected to rise
Junagadh, June 16 (UNI) Gir Forest officials are hoping to see a rise in lion population following the commencement of the mating season of these majestic beasts.
According to the last census, there are 359 lions in the Gir forest which is spread over 1412 square kilometres.
The mating season of the lions and lionesses coincides with the monsoon period, the officials pointed out.
