Eight killed, 9 seriously hurt in jeep-truck collision

Beed, Maharashtra, June 16 (UNI) Eight people, including a woman, were killed on the spot and nine others sustained serious injuries when their vehicle collided head-on against an oncoming truck near Renapur Bhata, near Latur today.

Latur Deputy Superintendent of Police Shankar Mandilwar, said the truck was on its way to Latur from Pangeshwar Sugar factory at around 1900 hrs this evening when the jeep collided with it near the Renapur Phata on the Beed-Latur border.

Four of the victims have been identified.

The injured, including three women, have been admitted to the Government Medical College and Hospital at Latur, where their condition is stated to be critical.

Renapur police have registered an offence against the jeep driver, who could be among the deceased, Mr Mandilwar added.
