Debt-ridden farmer commits suicide in Ludhiana

Ludhiana, Jun 16 (UNI) A debt-ridden farmer allegedly committed suicide in Kalsa village near Rajkot in Ludhiana district of Punjab last night, police today said.

According to police sources, 58-year-old farmer Kaur Singh consumed some poisonous substance to end his life. He owned about 4 acre odd land which he had sold sometime back.

Presently, he used to earn a living by contract farming but since the yield was poor this year, he was unable to pay back the contract amount and his earlier debt.
