Congress lambasts Nitish government for its failures

Muzaffarpur, Jun 16 (UNI) Congress today flayed the Nitish Kumar government for its failure to fulfill the promise of improving the law and order situation in the state and exhorted the party workers to inform the people in remote areas about the non-performance of the NDA government.

Addressing the meeting of state executive committee here, general- secretary of All India Congress Committee and in-charge of Bihar affairs Digvijay Singh alleged that criminal activities in the state continued to increase despite the claims of the Nitish government on improvement in law and order.

''The Centre is providing all sorts of assistance to Bihar government in executing various welfare schemes in the state but the desired result is yet to be seen due to its poor implementation,'' he lamented.

He said the mass exodus of labourers from the state in search of livelihood continued unabated despite the fact that all districts of Bihar had been covered by Central sponsored national employment guarantee schemes.

Taking potshot on misbehaviour by a minister with an elderly woman in Bhagalpur yesterday, Mr Singh quipped,''Is this the kind of good governance, Mr Nitish Kumar wants to provide to the people of Bihar''.
