CM underlines importance of official publications

Lucknow, June 16 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh chief minister Mayawati today said official publications played an important role in publicising the government policies, programmes and other information relating to public interest.

The CM, while releasing 'Inqilab-1857', the special issue of 'Naya Daur' from her residence here said ''it is published by the Information department and will be a success in communicating the contributions and sacrifices made by the freedom fighters to the youngsters.'' Congratulating the director of information and the editorial board for bringing out the high level special issue, Mayawati said, 'Inqilab' would strengthen social unity, Hindu-Muslim brotherhood and the ''Ganga-Jamuni culture,'' besides the glorious past of the state.

The special issue is dedicated to the freedom fighters to commemorate the 150th year of the first war of Independence. It would also underline the contribution of 'Naya Daur' to Urdu language, besides informing the people about the government's efforts for making Urdu, a source to enable people earn their livelihood, she noted.
