BJP criticises Digvijay Singh

Patna, Jun 16 (UNI) The Bihar BJP today lambasted senior Congress leader and former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Digvijay Singh for ''unnecessarily criticising the state administration,''in a bid to downgrade its image'.

In a strongly worded statement here tonight, state BJP spokesman Vinod Narayan Jha had severely critised Mr Singh's remark about the alleged deteriorating law and order situation in the state under the present NDA government of Nitish Kumar.

Giving scant respect to the steps taken by the present regime to improve the law and order and other basic facilities like healthcare, education and supply of potable water to all sections of the society, the Congress leader had criticised the government for nothing and thereby lowered its image to the outsiders, Mr Jha alleged.

Charging Mr Singh with being surrounded by 'stooges in the form of local Congress leaders' during his two day visit to Bihar since yesterday, Mr Jha said in order to get the true picture of the prevailing situation the former MP chief minister should have contacted the concerned officials before issuing such ''false'' statements.

Incidentally, Mr Singh on his arrival here yesterday charged the state government with failing to protect the life and property of the general public and alleged that a 'Musclemen Raj' was prevailing in the state in absence of any effective steps to curb them.
