2 drowned in Narmada Canal

Surendranagar, Gujarat, June 16 (UNI) Two persons were drowned to death in the Narmada Canal near Malvan village in Surendranagar district yesterday.

Premsingh Udesinh Sodha, a truck driver, had halted near the canal yesterday in order to bathe.

He, however, was drawn away into the deeper waters. A passerby Yunus Khan, jumped into the canal to his rescue but he too was drowned, police said.

The bodies were retrieved from the canal and have been sent for postmortem.
