Woman trampled to death
Korba, Chhattisgarh, June 15 (UNI) A woman has been trampled to death by a wild elephant at Taraimar village in Korba forest division of Chhattisgarh, police said today.
This is the third incident of a death occurring due to attack by a tusker in the past one month.
Korba Divisional Forest Officer Arun Pandey said Mankunwar (55) had gone for attending nature's call to nearby Mand river when the incident occurred yesterday.
After the incident, some villagers reached the spot and informed police and forest department.
Mr Pandey said Rs 20,000 was granted as immediate assistance to the family members of the deceased. The ex-gratia amount -- Rs two lakh on attack by wild animals -- would be released soon.
