Lucknow, Jun 15 (UNI) The Confedration of Indian Horticulture will organise a summit from June 16-19 here to create a ''sharing platform'' between growers, government and scientists.

The four-day summit will will provide an opportunity for sharing experiences for the all-round benefit as scientists will share new technologist advancements with growers and government agencies.

''Horticulture has emerged as one of the best options in diversification of agriculture, for better land and water use, employment generation and enhanced farm income,'' said secretary, CIH S S Mehta.

''Effort of investment by the Centre has been rewarding in terms of increased production and profitability. Resultantly, Horticulture is identified as one of the growth engines for the development, equity and inclusive growth,'' he added.

''However, there is a need for better understanding of NHM and share the experiences to achieve the goal. Therefore, we decided to hold Horticulture summit, 2007 with the theme ''Stakeholders' Meet for Accelerated Development of Horticulture'' he said.

The meet is expected to be attended by growers from across the country. It is expected to provide a platform for interaction among Scientists, Government representatives, growers, input suppliers and bankers, to address the issues to achieve a faster pace of growth.

Besides the interactive meet, All India Mango Show and Exhibition will also be organised. The exhibition will provide opportunity to showcase the technologies as well as inputs and solutions for modernisation of Horticulture.
