Third Front to announce Prez candidate on June 18

Hyderabad, June 15: The 'Third Front', floated by eight regional parties recently, will announce its Presidential candidate after a meeting in Chennai on June 18, Telugu Desam Parliamentary Party (TDPP) leader Yerran Naidu said today.

Addressing the Press here, he said the Third Front, formed as an alternative to the UPA and NDA, would field its own candidate for the Presidential polls. The Front would evolve a consensus among its partners on the candidate and announce the name after the meeting in Chennai.

Stating that the Front was also waiting for the NDA's decision on Presidential candidature, Mr Naidu hoped that the Opposition NDA would announce its candidate before June 18.

Referring to the nomination of Ms Pratibha Patil as UPA candidate, he said the Congress had taken more time to finalise its nominee.
