THDCL targets higher turnover

Mysore, Jun 15 (UNI) The Tamil Nadu Handicrafts Development Corporation Limited (THDCL) has targetted a turnover of Rs 22 crore in the current fiscal, Karnataka Branch Manager R Karunakaran said today.

Talking to newspersons at THDCL crafts mela here he said last year the Corporation had a turnover of Rs 18 crore.

The Bangalore branch of Karnataka unit had contributed Rs two crore.

The corporation has been organising exhibitions across the country, five of them in Karnataka.

More than 50 artisans from Tamil Nadu were taking part in the exbibitions. THDCL had been helping poor craftsmen by marketing their products through the melas. he said.

The Corporation had about 170 craftsmen on its rolls. It was also training artisans regularly at various places in Tamil Nadu, he added.
