Shias protest attack on Iraq mosque
Varanasi, June 15 (UNI) Shia Muslims here today protested the recent attack on the Imam Hasan Askari Mosque in Iraq.
Members of the community after offering Friday prayers at the Jama Juma Masjid in Daranagar locality, assembled for a protest meeting under the leadership of Shia clerics Maulana Syed Jafar-ul-Hasan and Maulana Syed Nadim Asgar.
At the meeting, the two clerics blamed the American and British forces deployed in Iraq for the attack on the mosque at Samra in Iraq.
The speakers alleged that the attack was a deliberate assault on Islam for dividing the Muslims in the ''volatile Arab nation.'' They also demanded that the American and British troops be immediately withdrawn from Iraq.
The two clerics later appealed Shia Muslims to hoist black flags on their roof-tops to protest the attack on the mosque dedicated to the 11th Imam of the community.
