Raghav, Jaspreet, Nischay win singles titles
Chandigarh, June 15 (UNI) Raghav Singhal of Chandigarh and Jaspreet Kaur of Ludhiana won the boys Under-16 singles and girls Under-16 singles titles, respectively in the AITA Talent Series Tennis Tournament, organised by the Chandigarh Lawn Tennis Association here today.
Due to morning rains, the finals were postponed to the afternoon session.
Giving a consistent display, Raghav took 95 minutes to prevail over erratic but big server and hard hitter Suraj Beniwal of Hisar in straight sets 6-3, 6-2 at central court.
Meanwhile, in the girls Under-16 singles, Jaspreet of Jassowal got the better of Rajvir Kaur of Chandigarh in straight sets 6-4, 6-0.
Chandigarh claimed their second singles title as top-seeded Nischay Rawal downed Ranjeet Singh, a trainee of CLTA-Army Scheme, in straight sets in the boys Under-12 singles.
At Court number two, defensive Nischal exchanged strokes with Ranjeet and won by 6-4, 6-3. Ranjeet today committed a number of unforced errors and muffed some easy chances to hit the winner.
Meanwhile, in the doubles encounters, Suraj Beniwal (Haryana) and Manoj Kumar (Chandigarh) won the boys Under-16 doubles title by beating local duo of Nischay Rawal and Srijjan Uppal in straight sets 6-4, 6-2 here this evening.

Boys Under-16 singles: Raghav Singhal (Chd) bt Suraj Beniwal (Har) 6-3, 6-2.
