Public prosecutor in Haseena Parkar case receives threats
Mumbai, June 15 (UNI) Additional Public Prosecutor Dilip Shah, who is representing the state in the Haseena Parkar case, today said he had received threatening calls on his cell phone.
Adv Shah today told the City Civil and Session Court Principal Judge Ashok Bhangale that he received threatening calls on his mobile phone last Tuesday. The caller allegedly threatened the public prosecutor, saying, ''Do not appear in Haseena Parkar matter, else we will teach you a lesson.'' Adv Shah claimed he had received another threatening call yesterday wherein the caller said, ''Tum ko manaa kiya naa. Jo hum ne bola hai waisa hi karo. Jyada hoshiyari mat karo (Do as we have have said. Do not act smart).'' Judge Bhangale has directed the police commissioner to provide security to Adv Shah and investigate the matter.
Adv Shah said he had already lodged a complaint with the police and the anti extortion cell.
Meanwhile, the hearing on the miscellanous application filed by the anti-extortion cell, seeking cancellation of Haseena's bail granted by lower court on May 24, has been adjourned till June 19.
Parkar has been accused of threatening Vinod Avalani, an estate agent, and refusing to return the latter's Rs 30 lakh despite a slum redevelopment project failing to take off.
