Ordinance to grant temp relief from forcible action: Cabinet

New Delhi, June 15 (UNI) The Cabinet today approved promulgation of the National Capital Territory of Delhi Laws (Special Provisions) Ordinance, 2007 to provide temporary relief for a year to people from forcible action against unauthorised development.

Talking to mediapersons after a Cabinet meeting, Information and Broadcasting Minister Priya Ranjan Dasmunsi said a Bill will be moved in the coming session of Parliament to replace the Ordinance.

The unauthorised development will include encroachment by slum and jhuggi dwellers, hawkers, urban street vendors, farm houses, involving construction beyond permissible building limits and schools dispensaries, religious and cultural institutions in rural areas built on agricultural land for the period.

''People in these categories will be provided relief so as to avoid undue hardship and irreparable loss,'' he said.

''And also allow for a balanced and well-considered view to be taken on policies involving such unauthorised development... thereby to formulate schemes to address these issues,'' he added.
