NTPC Dadri Stage II to be ready for Commonwealth Games
New Delhi, Jun 15 (UNI) Government today said National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) will set up two units of 490 MW each in time for the Commonwealth Games This was stated by the Minister of Power Sushilkumar Shinde at the foundation stone laying ceremony for additional 980 MW (2x490 MW) NTPC's National Capital Thermal Power Project today.
With the installation of stage II (980MW), the total installed capacity of Dadri Project shall increase to 2673 MW. The additional capacity shall be built with an investment of Rs.5,135 crore, a statement said.
The power generated from stage II shall be supplied to Delhi and Uttar Pradesh.
Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit expressed faith in the capabilities of NTPC and thanked the Power Ministry for expediting the approvals for Dadri stage II.
'' NTPC is the most trusted company in the power sector and shall ensure substantial power for Delhi during the Commonwealth Games,'' Secretary Power Anil Razdan said.
Rated amongst the top performing stations of the country, Dadri presently has an operational installed capacity of 1657 MW (840 MW from coal based units and 817 MW from gas based units). The station recorded a Plant Load Factor (PLF) of 95.6 per cent in the year 2006-07.
