Nine Tripura militants lay down arms
Agartala, June 15 (UNI) Nine self-styled National Liberation Front of Tripura (NLFT) 'sergeants' today surrendered before the CRPF in Khumulwng, south-eastern part of the town along with a huge cache of arms and ammunition.
The ultras deposited one 9 mm revolver, three rounds of 9 mm live cartridges, two sword muzzle 12 bore short gun, 12 round live cartridges of 12 bore guns, three hand grenades, 20 rounds of AK 47 and two electronic detonators.
According to CRPF, the militants ran away from Bangladesh hideouts following poor civic amenities in the camps as well as the deplorable lifestyle of the lower level members of the outfit.
During interrogation they revealed that they had joined the outfit some three years back but now they were fed up with the life due to acute shortage of funds, basic amenities and huge disparity in the lifestyle of the leaders, CRPF officials said.
