K'taka Cabinet approves SEZ at Nandigudi
Bangalore, June 15 (UNI) Karnataka Cabinet has approved setting up of a Special Economic Zone at a cost of Rs 1,500 Crore in Nandigudi village in Hoskotte taluk, about 30 km from here, Minister for Primary and Secondary Education Basvaraj Horatti said today.
Briefing newsmen after the cabinet meeting, he said that Mumbai based SKIL has come forward to invest and there was no commitment on the part of the state government for the project. The project needs 1500 hectares of land it would be set up according to the SEZ rules.
Mr Horatti said that a 25 day Karnataka Legislative Session would be held from July Two to 26.
He said that the Cabinet approved setting up of a sub-committee to work on providing internal reservation to backward communities.
Mr Horatti said that the Cabinet also approved taking up of the third stage work on Biotech Park on Hosur road at a cost of Rs 103 crore.
Starting of a new Sugar factory by Shivshakti Ltd at Saudatti in Raibag taluk of Belgaum district was approved by the Cabinet, he added.
The Cabinet approved a rehabilitation package for the people affected by SEZ project at Mangalore to provide a land 4500 acres in Dakshina Kannada district.
Mr Horatti said that the Deputy Commissioners have been given full power to withdraw illegal ration cards issued to Below Poverty Line (BPL) and to issue them to genuine beneficiaries.
He said that the government has planned a Housing project to provide 3900 units in 19 places across the state with a cost of Rs 1400 crore.
The cabinet approved construction of an annexure at Karnataka Bhavan in New Delhi at a cost of Rs 15 Crore, he added.
Mr Horatti said that the Cabinet approved setting up of Madaras Board for administration of 323 Madarsas functioning in the State.
