Hamas says takes "last bastion" of Fatah in Gaza
GAZA, June 14 (Reuters) Hamas Islamist fighters said they had taken control of the Palestinian presidential compound in Gaza yesterday, calling it the ''last bastion'' of President Mahmoud Abbas's secular Fatah forces in the enclave.
The broadcast on a Hamas-run radio station said ''the last bastion of corruption has fallen''. Hamas fighters had earlier surrounded the compound. Abbas is in his West Bank stronghold.
