In October 10, 2003, the eight-member gang had looted a truck carrying silver strips worth Rs 60 lakh, which were kept with rice bags. The desperados had waylaid the truck soon after it left Karzan bypass, 30 km from here, on way to Kolhapur. They then took the truck to Madhya Pradesh, where the silver strips were taken away leaving behind the truck and its driver Osman Sheikh. However, all the gang members were caught soon after the incident after the truck driver Osman Sheikh identified them, according to prosecution.
