First wave of flood hits Asom
Guwahati, Jun 15 (UNI) The first wave of flood has inundated several areas of northern Asom in Sonitpur district.
According to sources from the state revenue department, about nine villages in the Gohpur areas have been affected by the flood while water level of the Brahamputra was rising and flowing above the danger level.
The water level of the Brahmaputra in Dibrugarh was flowing at 42 cm above the danger mark. Yesterday till night set in, the water level was steady at 104.66 cm as against the danger level mark at 104.24 cm, the sources added.
So
far
the
state
government
has
not
opened
any
relief
camp
but
was
closely
monitoring
the
situation,
while
Sonitpur
and
Lakhimpur
along
with
Dhemaji
district
have
started
the
mandatory
flood
drill
to
meet
any
exigency
