First pre-Monsoon rains hit Capital, more rains likely

New Delhi, June 15 (UNI) The first pre-monsoon showers, hit the Capital this afternoon, bringing down the mercury by several degrees in the city , which has been reeling under heat wave since the beginning of this month.

The light and moderate showers, which weathermen described as an offshoot of the South Easterly winds blowing through the capital since last few days, hit Delhi at 1330 hours.

The rain and easterly winds, which followed a cloudy sky in Delhi since morning brought down the day temperature by a few degrees. The minimum temperature today also dropped to 28.0 Degree Celsius, one degree below normal.

The met office has forecast a partly cloudy sky in Delhi during the next 24 hours with rain and thundershowers in many areas. They have also forecast likelihood of squalls in some areas.
