Drive against power theft in Diva by MSEDC

Mumbai, June 15 (UNI) Officials of the Maharashtra state electricity distribution company (MSEDC) today raided 1167 places in Diva township in Thane district and disconnected supply of 618 people, who were taking power illegally.

According to MSEDC sources, 403 consumers had their supply disconnected as they had not paid their dues.

FIR has been registered against 104 people for taking illegal connection.

The sources said the raids had immediate impact on the daily collection of power bills in Diva town, which used to be upto Rs 10,000 per day, and has now touched Rs 4.5 lakh.
