Hyderabad, June 15 (UNI) An eight-member CBI team, led by Joint Director Arun Kumar today visited the historical Mecca Masjid, where a bomb blast ripped through on May 18 claiming nine lives, as part of its investigation into the incident.

Official sources said the CBI team visited the mosque after the Friday prayers this afternoon. The team visited the spot where the bomb exploded and two other spots from where the unexploded Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) were recovered by the bomb squads.

The CBI officials also interacted with some local people and the authorities of the Masjid.

The sources said the investigation officers have found similarities between the Mecca Masjid blast and the blast outside a mosque in Malegaon last year and Samjautha Express in February.

The Andhra Pradesh Government had ordered a CBI probe into the incident after the Special Investigation Cell (SIC) of the state police failed to investigate the case, recently.
